From Noob to Pro an Art Blog

I made my first Warhammer 40k purchase in September of this year. My friend and I had been talking about it for months by this point and were tired of playing Dawn of War 2, so we needed a new way to get our WH40k fix, and what better way then returning to its roots. My friend used to play the game many years ago, but lost his armies due to some unfortunate circumstances, and now we're helping each other get into the hobby.

So far i've purchased Assault on Black Reach and the Space Marine battle-force, which has left me with a fairly decent sized army to mess around with. Still plan to get some more things to give myself a bit more versatility game-wise and actually make a viable 1500 point army, but i've told myself i'm not getting any more models until I finish the current batch (we all know how that goes heh...).

Alright lets get to the meat of this blog. I created this blog to see what it's like to go from being completely new to the wargaming hobby and see how long it takes to reach a decent level of experience, and provide some fun for everyone along the way of course. For the first few posts this will be mostly a painting blog, but after the holiday craziness dies down i'm hoping to start doing some battle reports with my painted marines, and potentially start an army in a year challenge!

Now with the formalities out of the way lets get to it. Below this paragraph you'll find a list of my current models and their status. My goal is to have them done by the second week of January if time permits.

Space Marines
1 x AoBR Captain (Primed)
10 x Tactical Marines (Still need assembly)
10 x Tactical Marines (Still need assembly)
10 x AoBR Tactical Marines (Primed and base-coated, two finished)
5 x Assault Marines (Primed and baes-coated)
5 x Scouts (primed, 1 basecoated)
5 x AoBR Terminators (Primed)
1 x AoBR Dreadnaught (mostly done just need to finish the meltagun arm)
1 x Rhino (Some assembly left to do)

Orks
1 x AoBR Warboss (he's a little miscast I may get some green stuff to fix before I finish painting him)
5 x AoBR Nobs (Primed, skin finished)
20 x AoBr Boys (Primed, skin finished, 1 shoota boy finished)
3 x AoBR Deffkoptas ( Assembled, 1 miscast, not sure if i'm going to paint these or try to trade them with a local ork player)

As a last note, my primary interest is Warhammer 40k, but I may paint some models from Warhammer fantasy if I think they might be fun to do. Actually getting a Lizardman hero to paint for my friend for christmas (again if time permits).

Next post will have my current progress posted in pictures, comments and painting tips are welcome as i've only been doing this since September!

Alright have a blast all, Casamir out!
